Sillouhette Inspiration...

As part of my proffesional portfolio breif I have started to think how I can convey my ideas to it, so I thought of my collection inspiration and a huge part of this was from sillouhette inspirations, so I have done a page for my portfolio that includes the inspiration I got from my favorite designer Ritu Beri...

Im pleased with this board I feel that I have put the strong images that convay my final collection and also these images are in my sketchbook...

Tarun Tahiliani

Tarun Tahiliani is a Bollywood celebrity costume designer, who has designed apparels for the Indian celebrity beauties like Simi Garewal and Ramola Bachchan. He has always been in limelight. For quite a long time, this Indian fashion designer Tarun Tahiliani had become the talk of town because of Jemima Khan's wedding wardrobe contract. He started off as a fashion retailer by establishing his own fashion boutique in Mumbai. Later on he made a step further starting his own brand label called  'Ahilian'.

Im facinated by the Golden beading and the way the colours are used on this Bridal garment...

Love the way this outfit is so contemporary with the blazer jacket stylised with the skirt, but still having the bold jewl colours used...

                                                           

                                                                       

He is simply fascinated by Chikan embroidery of Lucknow and is often incorporated in his designs. He also makes use of beads and semi precious stones to embellish the ensemble. He strongly believes that fashion is all about your comfort level with a particular attire. The highlights of his designs are: block printing, bandhini styles, beautiful color combination and rich silhouettes. Neeta Lulla...

simplicity to royalty, Neeta Lulla has it all to her credit. Neeta Lulla has been one name which has been prevalent in the industry since two decades now. The designer has been an active contributor in giving the actors a look to die for. Her designs have not only been recognized in India, but have also acquired great acclaims globally.

Im facinated by the chains it brings the back of this outfit out and gives a great indian mystic influence...

The designer has made a niche for herself, creating the costumes of the era long lost. The challenge to create designs for the high profile and larger than life movies like Jodha Akhbar and Devdas have been very well met by Neeta Lulla, who tuned them to the richness and charismatic period of the movies. More Draping on the Mannequinn...

Now that I have my final fabrics I have started to create my collection, starting of with draping to have a breif idea of what it will look like...

An idea of outfit 2, short sari style draped  dress...

Detail more on the skirt all draped, I will also be adding netting to this as I want a puffed sillohette...

A breif idea to outfit 3, the ruched dress...

I'm facinated by the effect of the ruching it looks really detailed and contemporary, I feel like this fabric looks great with the ruching so I will keep in mind what fabric goes well with which outfit...

Also have added in pleats to the dress as in outfit 3 the detail is the pleating and the ruching...

Here are  my  final 6 chosen sari fabrics brought from a sari shop in manchester "Rewaj"
Prices starting from the lowest £45 to the highest £85.
It was quite tricky buying the fabrics as soon as i walked into the store i was facinated by all the colours and beautiful embroiderey created on them, alot of the fabrics were hand crafted which also were more expensive...
I tried to look for different materials so it would look contemporary aswell as having exotic influence, I will also be adding chiffon and netting to the collection for the western touch...

Red chiffion with bronze sequence embroidery...

Tye- dye Maroon and blood red with a touch of beading...

Baanarsi,the most expensive indian  fabric red with a touch of deep orange...

Blood red chiffon/satin with gold machine emboroidery...

Hand crafted beading, bright red organza...

Draping on the mannequinn....

Now that i have done my designs i have started to create them starting with draping on the mannequin for an idea to what the garment will look like, i was fascinated by this technique and had lots of fun doing this and now i have a better idea to what my designs will look like and how i can develop them...

Outfit one- sari style dress  draping i feel that it looks amazing as it looks contemporary as well as having the indian influence...

I like the way the drapes are falling but i still will develop this to make it look perfect...

This was my favourite Roushing, for outfit 3 by scrunching the fabric and pinning it down,I'm fascinated by the effect and also will use this for outfit 4, the shrug...

I have now picked my Final 6 outfilts for my fashion show in june 2011, the inspiration of these designs came from the theme 'indian contemporary fashion,' which then lead me to think of my collection name which is 'ASHIANA spring/summer 2012'.  i have taken inspiration from the sari research and indian fashion designers inspiration and have come up with my final 6 indian contemporary outfits....
